TS Mai Thanh Truyết - 1000 Năm Thăng Long Thực Phẩm Nhiễm Độc

Dr. Mai Thanh Truyet - One Thousand Year Anniversary of Thang Long under Poisonous Food.

The interview of Dr. Mai Thanh Truyet, President of the Vietnamese American Science and Technology Society (VAST) was conducted on August 12, 2010 at Westminster city in Southern California. The subject matter focused on the One Thousand Year Anniversary of Thang Long and Hanoi's current problems of environmental pollution.

Communist Vietnam government has spent an approximate amount of 4.5 billion US dollars for the celebration of One Thousand Year Anniversary of Thang Long while the country's economy is experiencing a down turn, Vietnamese people are reeling under extreme hardship and the state coffers burdened with 28 billion US dollars of international debt. Under these conditions, Vietnam will be obligated to pay an average of two billion US dollars of interest Payments as of 2006.

The anniversary celebration is being touted by the Viet Cong media as the Pride of the Vietnamese People.

The opening ceremony will be scheduled on October 1, 2010 coinciding with the National Day of the People's Republic of China.

A huge meeting expected to gather 10,000 participants will perform all kinds of ceremonies under a statue of a mandarin dressed in Chinese costume and proclaimed by the VC as King Ly Thai To.

However, spectacular celebration will not hide the obvious fact that Hanoi is covered by disastrous pollution.

The One Thousand Year Anniversary of Thang Long will certainly increase the amount of polluted air, unsafe drinking water, poisonous food products, garbage and all kinds of diseases.

TS Mai Thanh Truyết - 1000 Năm Thăng Long Thực Phẩm Nhiễm Độc.

GỌI HỒN GIỮA THĂNG LONG

Gió ào ào...
Rít...
Gào...
Cây quằn quại...
Phải hồn thiêng giận dữ ra oai?
Bao năm rồi... sao chẳng chút nguôi ngoai!

Hồn thiêng hỡi!
Sao chưa đành siêu thoát?
Vì đất nước lòng dân tan tác!
Vì người hại người Đang vượt cả thiên tai!

Hôm nay đây,
Người Việt trong, ngoài
thắp nén hương lòng
lập đàn trai giữa đất Thăng Long

Sao tự do người dân chẳng được than?

của "Ngày Long Trời Đêm Lở Đất!" (*)
Về đây xem...
Lịch sử đang đảo lật!
Bọn địa chủ mới
cướp đất nhà chùa, nhà thờ, nhà dân...
giữa ban ngày
Chính quyền dấu mặt... đưa tay...!

Hỡi oan hồn của bao tội ác!
Huế Mậu Thân bao người oan thác!
Thuyền, bộ nhân... bỏ xác, xương khô...
Trại cải tạo trá hình xảo quyệt mưu mô...
Máu, nước mắt ngập tràn trang sử!

Hỡi hồn thiêng
Anh Hùng, Liệt Nữ!
Các con cháu Lạc Hồng
quật cường đòi Tự Do, Dân Chủ
đang bị bách hại, tù đầy, bịt miệng câm, bức tử...
Có thời nào
đất nước đầy nghịch lý, oái oăm...
đàn áp dân biểu tình chống đối ngoại xâm?!

Hỡi hồn thiêng sông núi!
Hỡi Hùng Vương Quốc Tổ!
Nhục nước này xiết bao tủi hổ!
Hãy về đây phù trợ đàn con
quyết một lòng giải cứu quê hương
Giành lại đất đai
Bảo toàn lãnh thổ
Để Việt Nam lại cất đầu ngẩng cổ
Nhìn thế giới...
Hôm nay!

GS Nguyễn Ngọc Bích - Thăng Long Nghìn Năm

This coming October, the authorities in Hanoi will celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thăng Long (old name of Hanoi) with lavish ceremonies and the erection of some five monumental entrance gates to the city. These gates are expected to cost millions of dollars but will be taken down after a while. This wasteful spending is widely criticized as the design of the gates has nothing to do with the image of the "Ascending Dragon" associated with Thăng Long. They will feature instead symbols dating from the Đông Sơn era, at least 1500 years before the creation of Thăng Long. In this interview, Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Bich comments on the incongruity of these entrance gates.

Phỏng vấn Giáo sư Nguyễn Ngọc Bích về "Thăng Long Nghìn Năm" ngày 09 tháng 07 năm 2010 tại Little Saigon, Nam California, USA.

SUMMONS TO THE SOULS IN THANG LONG-HANOI

Wuthering winds
Howling
Raging
Bearing down on writhing trees:
Are you sacred souls that in anger manifest yourselves?
For a long time now, you remain unappeased!

Sacred souls!
Are you unable to find liberation?
Are you suffering on behalf of the nation and the people?
'Cause man has made man suffer worse than natural calamities!

Today, then,
The Vietnamese both at home and abroad
light candles in their hearts
to set up an altar in downtown Thang Long
to commemorate a thousand years of high civilization
Asking that the manes of Ly Thai To(*)
Along with those of heroes and heroines
who have given their all to protect our land
to gather here and indict
those who dared import snakes to bite our domestic fowls
and contribute to tearing further the already ragged map...
O Nam Quan Pass! Ban Gioc Fall of resplendent name!
Where are now the traces of Phi Khanh and Nguyen Trai?
And those heroes whose names were imprinted deeply
in our minds for having defended Hoang Sa and Truong Sa!
How come these islands are now in enemy hands?

Independence, you say? Why then so much tribute to the neighbor to the North?
Freedom, say you? Why can't people emit so much as a complaint?
Happiness, yes? Why is life still obsessed with hunger and cold,
conditions that don't ever leave the common people?
They live now lost among those with devil's heart
Who build castles on cemeteries full of bones
As hotels and entertainment palaces of magnificent splendor
are erected on grounds filled with sweat and tears
of the impoverished farmers who had to save every penny...

Hold it,
Sacred souls!
Please hold down your anger!
And look on silently...
Small children eking a living on street curbs
Old wrinkled women from early dawn
scavenging trash dumps, sewers, and canals... for scraps
through the bitter cold of winter
or the burning sun of summer...
Look, the streets are filled with victims of land injustice as they cry:
"O Party!
"O Government!
"O Mr. Prime Minister!
"Please save us!"
The yelling stops... with no breath left...
But
Those sitting up there are unconscionable, deprived of sentiments or emotions
Those Red Capitalists and new Local Tyrants who just grow
by leaps and bounds, like a spreading oil spot.

O souls victims of injustice
From the "Sky-shaking Days and Earth-shattering Nights"(**)
Come and see for yourselves
History is being overturned!
The new landlords
now go after the property of Buddhist temples and Catholic churches, of common people
in broad daylight
With the government turning its eyes away while helping itself to it.

O victims of so much crime across the land!
O those who died unjustly at Tet 1968 in Hue!
Boat people, land people... who left their cadavers and dry bones
Or those who were wrongfully put in so-called re-education camps
Whose blood and tears fill the history pages!

Sacred Souls
Of Heroes and Heroines!
The descendants of Lac Hong
who fearlessly demanded Freedom and Democracy
those who are being repressed, jailed, exiled, have their mouths shut, or forced to suicide,
Is there a time in history
where our country has seen so much paradoxes and ironies
where manifestations against foreign aggression are cruelly repressed?

O Sacred Soul of the Land!
O Hung Vuong, our Founder King!
How shameful it is to swallow these terrible deeds!
Please come home and help your children
in their determination to save the land from its horrible fate
Let them wrest back the land we lost,
Wrest back the territories given away
Protect the whole sacred land
So that Vietnam could once again raise its head
And look at the world...
Of today!...
